These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of aftertax.au and its related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Aftertax
Aftertax provides tools, calculators, educational content, document and transaction organisation, and related features intended to help users understand personal tax and financial information.
The Service is provided by Aftertax (“we”, “us”, “our”).
2. Not personal advice
The Service provides general information and educational tools only. It does not provide personal financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or investment advice.
Information, calculations, estimates, AI-generated outputs, and examples in the Service may not be complete, current, or suitable for your individual circumstances. You are responsible for reviewing all information and obtaining advice from a qualified professional, such as a registered tax agent, accountant, financial adviser, or lawyer, before making decisions.
You must not treat the Service as a substitute for professional advice or as a guarantee of any tax outcome, refund, deduction, entitlement, or financial result.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You must provide accurate information, maintain the security of your account, and promptly update information that changes.
You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account. Do not share your login credentials or allow another person to use your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, create security risks, or are used unlawfully.
4. Google Sign-In
If you use Google Sign-In, you authorise Google to provide the information you approve to Aftertax so we can create and manage your account. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
5. Your information and documents
You retain ownership of information and documents you submit to the Service.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive right to host, store, process, reproduce, and analyse that information only as necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service, provide features you request, and comply with law.
You confirm that you have the right to upload or provide all information and documents you submit. Do not upload unlawful content or information that infringes another person's rights.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service unlawfully, fraudulently, or in a way that harms others;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, data, or networks;
- interfere with the security, availability, or operation of the Service;
- upload malware or harmful code;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or exploit the Service except where permitted by law; or
- use the Service to provide professional tax, financial, legal, or accounting services to others without our written permission.
7. Intellectual property
We and our licensors own the Service, including its software, design, content, branding, and intellectual-property rights. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose.
8. Availability and pricing
The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may offer paid features or subscriptions in the future. If we do, we will provide the applicable pricing and terms before you are required to pay.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will use reasonable efforts to provide a reliable service, but do not guarantee that it will always be available, secure, error-free, or uninterrupted.
9. Third-party services
The Service may use or link to third-party services, including Google, cloud hosting, analytics, and AI providers. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Their use may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies.
10. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no guarantee about the accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, or suitability of the Service or its outputs.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
11. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aftertax and its personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or loss-of-profit damages, or for loss arising from reliance on Service content, calculations, AI outputs, or third-party services.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to the resupply of the relevant Service or payment of the cost of resupply, at our option, except where the law provides otherwise.
12. Indemnity
You indemnify us against losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Service, or your violation of another person's rights.
13. Termination and account deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account and personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, created a security risk, or used the Service unlawfully.
